MapleStory: Weapons and More Described in Dev Article

Few games in the young adult age group are as popular as MapleStory. With several million registered users, MapleStory leverages plenty of weight in the MMOG community and many of the younger users cut their teeth playing through this vibrant, fun-filled game. Recently one of the developers behind MapleStory, Dean Cho, penned an "insider's article" on some of the gameplay functions in MapleStory for those of us who may be unfamiliar with the game.maple story mesos The Ten Ton Hammer staff is proud to present the article and hopes your find it enlightening.

While it's possible to get almost everything you need from shops or random monster drops, the clever Mapler knows that many items can be 'made' for far less money and effort thanks to MapleStory's deep item synthesis system. Almost every town in the game will have an item manufacturer who can produce powerful weapons and pieces of armour, providing you have the right component parts. Likewise, you'll find helpful NPCs who can refine mineral, jewel and crystal ores into valuable gems or building materials. Put simply, the more parts you have, the more items you can make.

Items, Weapons, and More Described in MapleStory Dev Article

The world of MapleStory might be a huge, vibrant and exciting place for people to meet up and embark on fabulous quests together, but unless you’re properly equipped to face the adventures ahead you could easily end up as lunch to a marauding zombie mushroom. Fortunately MapleStory has a mind-boggling list of items to wear, carry, and hit monsters with. Learn how to get the best out of each of them and you’ll soon have the monsters eating out of your hands.

From Drops to Shops

There are hundreds of different items to find and collect in MapleStory, from healing potions to swords to fabulously expensive diamonds. Some are incredibly rare and can only be gained by completing special quests or events. The vast majority of items, however, can be bought from shops, or collected as random drops from defeated monsters. Shops are the best place to buy new weapons, armour and potions, but the monster drops are often the only way to get quest-specific items. These can be anything from mundane sticks, leaves and snail shells to exotic chunks of rock from giant animated statues, so it really pays to shop and chop.

Keeping well stocked and equipped is absolutely vital for survival in MapleStory: since weapons and armour often have minimum requirements for their use it’s important to plan ahead and make sure you always have the correct level and stats for the most powerful items available. For example, there’s no sense upgrading your Luck if you’re after a sword that requires a particular level of Strength. Healing, attack and defense potions are a must carry too – just make sure you allocate them to a hot key first: you don’t want to be busy hunting through your pack when you’re stuck in the middle of an angry crowd of slime monsters.

Make Your Own

While it’s possible to get almost everything you need from shops or random monster drops, maple story mesos the clever Mapler knows that many items can be ‘made’ for far less money and effort thanks to MapleStory's deep item synthesis system. Almost every town in the game will have an item manufacturer who can produce powerful weapons and pieces of armour, providing you have the right component parts. Likewise, you’ll find helpful NPCs who can refine mineral, jewel and crystal ores into valuable gems or building materials. Put simply, the more parts you have, the more items you can make.

In the same way, you can save buying powerful items of equipment by simply modifying the items you already own. Magic scrolls that can be bought or looted from monsters can add attack and defence bonuses to weapons and armour, while certain item manufacturers can adapt your equipment using any spare parts you might have to hand – and a bit of cash for the privilege, naturally!

Lots to Carry

With so many different weapons and items to collect, space in your backpack is a premium. New MapleStory players have a limited carrying capacity, but there are ways to organise and extend your inventory. Instead of throwing away spare monster drops, Maplers should try selling them for a profit, either to shops or others players – remember, your rubbish may be very useful to somebody else. Alternatively look out for special NPCs who’ll safely store items for you (at a price!), or splash out on some extra inventory slots from MapleStory's Cash shop, the unique store that allows you to accessorise your character with premium items paid for with real money.

Like everything else in MapleStory, collecting, building and customising your weapons, armour and equipment is both simple and amazingly deep. Whether you simply buy what you need and sell the rest, or get fully involved in creating your own tools from scratch, you’ll have hours of fun discovering the wealth of different items, weapon and bits of clothing and armour that are waiting to be discovered.

Making Mesos!

Introduction to the Guide
Are you jealous of all those pros getting like millions of mesos and showing off by trading and showing you their millions? Cheap Maple Story Mesos Will, you can show your own million mesos by reading this guide for mesos!

So, You Wanna Make Mesos?
Well, do you? The key to making mesos is patience. If you don't have much patience, you can't really get a lot of money. For example, if you got an above average Mithril pole arm that you are selling, but no one wants to buy it yet, you should wait. If you successfully sell it, which is like 100k for an above average one, that's a good start. But if you give up and NPC it, you only get 25k! that is a 75k difference! Patience is the key to a good merchant.

Making Mesos by Merchanting
Well, like mentioned before, you need patience! PATIENCE! Yes, you do! Also, you have to be smart. For example, getting a lot of stuff people need like leather. Leather can be very useful for building equipments. If you NPC leather for 100 mesos each, it's not going to be very good. Instead, you should try selling the leathers to players for I'd say 150-200 mesos each.

Even though it only seems like you are making a 50 mesos profit, if you sell leathers in large quantities, you will make a very large amount of profit!!!!! You can also sell screws for 2k each and ores can sell for a lot too! Fame is also a nice thing to sell, priced around 2-7k depending on the player, Making profits off noobs are also good =D but I will get to that later...

Making Mesos by Hunting
This way is a lot harder than merchandising because you actually have to kill! This part is more about saving mesos than earning them, but i guess they're the same thing really 0_o! To save money here, you should fight monsters that you can kill in 1-2 hits CONSECUTIVELY!!! That means you ALWAYS 1-2 hit the monster and not 3, because that would be a waste of pots and time!!! Also, use your mana wisely. If a monster takes you 1 maxed Magic Claw to kill (20MP) and you can consistently kill the monster with 3 minimum leveled energy bolts, (6MP) and that is 20 mana versus 18 mana. That way, you are conserving 2 mana! Even if you think 2 mana is nothing, wait till you hear this! You regenerate mana every 10 seconds and let's say you cast a spell every second.

In 10 seconds, that's 20 mana! Wasted! If you regenerate 40 mana each time, you will only heal 20 instead! And let's not forget about Magic Guard (if you're a mage)! But if you cast 3 separate spells, that will take up 3 seconds to cast and and you will cast 3 spells in the 10 seconds and 6 x 10 is 60MP and 20 x 10 is 200MP!!! You kill less enemies this way, but you save a lot more money.

Also, hunt for monsters that have the most expensive NPC drop because you want to spend too much time advertising to sell stuff.

Making Mesos Some Other Ways
Well, this part includes quests and some creative ways to make mesos. I guess I'll talk about quests first... well. here are some quests that are pretty good for a beginner.

(lvl 10) Fixing Blakcbull's House

Req: 30 branches and 40 firewood.
Prize: Steel Shield or Red Triangular Shield.

This quest is very worthwhile because you can get a Red Triangular shield which is 25k! Do this quest when you are lvl 20 or buy the firewood for 15 mesos each.

(lvl 10) I Need Help On My Homework!

Req: 10 slime bubble, 30 tree branch, 30 squishy liquid.
Prize: 25 Blue Potions + 250 exp.

You can do this quest when you are lvl 10 and this quest is the 2nd best quest!

(lvl 10) The Reason Behind the Mushroom Studies

Req: 40 Orange Mushroom Caps, 10 Mushroom Spores.
Prize: 25 Red Potions + 300 exp.

I think also a fairly quest to do because this is very easy and you can get 25 pots which is saving 1250 mesos!

(lvl 10) I'm bored

Req: 40 squishy liquid, 40 tree branch.
Prize: 25 red potion, 15 blue potion + 250 exp.

To me, this is the Best beginner quest. It's fairly easy and you get a pretty good prize for such easy monsters to kill and easy questions to answer!

Meso Magnet FUN!
Leave your computer on for the whole night and go to Henesys Hunting grounds or any other place where monster drops land on the platform you are standing on Make sure you are in the first Hunting Ground. Go on a haystack where there are monsters below. For this you need meso magnet. Just stand on a haystack and go to bed. When you wake up... Voila! a few hundred thousand mesos! My friend once got 850k doing that!

Looting!
This is a very easy thing to do. All you have to do is go to a map where there is a pro killing monsters and not bothering to pick up the drops. All you have to do is run around picking up his items! It's better to have Meso Magnet here, but not a must-have item.

Party Stealing! (not recommended)
Make a party with some good Maplers and let them kill for you. This is a bad version of looting. WARNING: YOU MIGHT GET DEFAMED!

Tips
Try not to beg, it will only make people defame you and call you noob. Only beg if you know that person you're begging for or he's your buddy/guild member. I just can't say this enough... have PATIENCE! Don't be impatient. Also, don't play drop games!!! You will lose at least once and you will be PISSED! That once happened to me before and boy did I get PISSED! I actually reported that dude and I got suspended for a while :-P. You should set up a free market stall so you can do something else while waiting for an item to sell.

And here is my last tip for you... go into parties with hermits or ChiefDits, they can use a skills that makes enemies drop more mesos or drop mesos more often. Well, I guess that wasn't the last one, make good friends! Get friends that will help you when your broke and party with you and go hunting. Never get a friend that will just leech off you items and beg for potions and mesos.

Also, help noobs in need. If you even give them 100 mesos, they will love you. BTW, i don't scam noobs. I was kidding about making profits of noobs. They aren't that stupid you know! Some may have friends that can kick your butt and mass defame you!!! Never try to take advantage of ANYONE! It is an inhumane thing to do! well, I guess that's all the tips.

Kerning City PQ

Kerning City PQ is a Party Quest where you can get Exp and items with your Party. Your party must consist of you and three other people. The level limit is 21-30. if you are below or higher than this level limit, then you can not do Kerning City PQ.

Terminology

.PQ-Party Quest
.AC-Auto Clicker
.Track-/find "username"
.Smuggle-to Sneak items out of PQ (illegal)
.Stg-Stage

Getting in to the PQ
PQ is generally always full unless you are on at the early morning hours. Your party leader should pick a channel and wait unless you have track. All four members of your party must be in the Kerning City Map. If not then the NPC will tell your leader that your party is not assembled.

If you have track and the other party gets to the Bonus round, tell your leader to start clicking repeatedly. When your screen goes black and then you appear in a swamp background then you got in the PQ!

Dying
If one person in your PQ dies, he/she will be moved to the Exit. If two people die, then your party can not complete the PQ. Your leader can not die or the PQ is over.

1st Stage
In the first stage, everybody except the leader must get a pass. First talk to the NPC at the very right of the map. She will give you a question. The number answer to that question is how many coupons you must get.

The questions and answers are:

.Level to become magician 8
.Level to become any other job 10
.EXP needed to level from 1 to 2 15
.INT needed to become a magician 20
.>DEX needed to become an archer or a thief 25
.STR needed to become a warrior 35

Obviously STR for Warrior is the worst. If you are a low level and get a big number, ask for help. To get coupons, kill the ligators. They will always drop a coupon. They will never drop anything else. Once you get the right amount talk to the NPC again. You must have the exact amount or the NPC will say it's the wrong number. You should get a yellow pass which you can drop by your leader. Once everybody is done, you can move on to the next stage. You get 100 EXP for completing this stage.

2nd Stage
The 2nd stage involves hanging on vines. You must find a combination that opens the portal. There are four vines and you need three people on at least one vine. You can move around in a clockwise order or just randomly.

Your leader will click the NPC to check if it is right or not. If the combo is wrong then your screen will display WRONG. If the combo is right the screen will display CLEAR. You can now move on to the next stage. You get 200 EXP for completing this stage.

3rd Stage
This stage is similar to the 2nd stage. This time there are platforms with cats on them. The number of cats denotes which number it is. Again your leader will click the NPC for each combo until you get the CLEAR.

The possible combos are:

.1-2-3
.1-2-4
.1-2-5
.1-3-4
.1-3-5
.1-4-5
.2-3-4
.2-3-5
.2-4-5
.3-4-5

Most PQ's go in this order. Once you get the CLEAR signal go on to the next stage. ou get 400 EXP for completing this stage.

4th Stage
The 4th stage is also like 2 and 3. This time though there are barrels that you stand on. There are six barrels. The leader will click for each combo until your party gets the right combo.

The possible combos are:

.1-2-3
.1-2-4
.1-2-5
.1-2-6
.1-3-4
.1-3-5
.1-3-6
.1-4-5
.1-4-6
.1-5-6
.2-3-4
.2-3-5
.2-3-6
.2-4-5
.2-4-6
.2-5-6
.3-4-5
.3-4-5
.3-5-6
.4-5-6

Once you get the CLEAR signal, go on the last and final stage. You get 800 EXP for completing this stage.

Last Stage
The last stage involves lots of killing. You portal into the top of a map. When you jump down, there should be three Curse Eyes. Once you kill them, they will drop a yellow pass.

Now go through the teleport at the left of the screen and you will end up at a lower level. Here there are six Jr. Neckis. Their avoidability is lowered so most people can hit them. They too drop yellow passes once killed. Your party should have nine passes by now.

When you go through the teleport on the right you will end up at the bottom level with the King Slime. The King Slime has 8000 HP and does damage by touching you and doing a stomping move. You can dodge this move by jumping. Once you kill the King Slime, it will drop a pass and summon a bunch of normal slimes.

Now just go back to the top the way you came. The leader will click on the NPC by the Portal. Your screen will say CLEAR if you have the ten passes. Click the NPC and you will go to the bonus level and get an item.MapleStory Powerleveling You also get 1500 EXP from completing the stage.

Bonus Stage
This is the stage you end up after talking to the NPC. Green Mushroom and Horny Mushroom spawn here quickly. The drop rate for certain rare items is higher. You can kill them, trade with party members or leave.

You can send one person out to scout. He/she will see if anybody is there and get their names. You can then rush or wait. Rushing is when the party all goes back to Kerning and the leader tries to get in again as fast as possible.
